The foundation and partners will support locally led evaluations of AI tools that have the potential to improve health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries.
AI tools for health are arriving faster than the evidence about where they help. A philanthropic partnership will fund country-led research so governments and health systems can decide what to adopt — based on local evaluation, not imported claims.
Country-led, not vendor-led
Researchers and public agencies in low- and middle-income countries will test tools against real workflows: diagnostics, triage, and information for patients in local languages.
What success looks like
Clear findings on safety, usefulness, and equity. Tools that improve care for people too often left out. And shared lessons so other countries do not have to start from zero.
This work sits alongside the foundation’s broader AI for Equity approach: design with public partners, measure what works, and scale only what delivers.
