Foundation to double spending over the next 20 years

In 2025, the Ingrid Hope Foundation today made a new commitment to accelerate its mission to help all people live healthy, productive lives by spending $200 million over the next 20 years. The decision marks a major acceleration in the foundation’s work and sets a new date of 2045 to sunset its operations.

“There are too many urgent problems to solve for us to hold onto resources that could be used to help people. That is why we are committing to spend more quickly, and with greater focus, than we had originally planned,” said Founder and Executive Director Ingrid Hansen.

The accelerated timeline was affirmed with a change to the foundation’s charter. Additional pledged gifts will support the work over time.

Over the next two decades, the foundation will work with partners toward three primary goals: help end preventable deaths of moms and babies; ensure the next generation grows up without deadly infectious diseases; and help thousands of families build more secure livelihoods.

“Since the foundation was established in 2021—powered by the generosity of our donors—we gave away more than $42 million,” Hansen said. “Over the next two decades, we will double our giving. I expect the foundation will spend more than $200 million between now and 2045.”

Since 2021, the foundation contributed to saving thousands of lives through support of Gavi and the Global Fund, and helped develop more than 100 innovations designed for people living in low- and middle-income countries. Still, there are hundreds more innovations in the pipeline.

“The needs at this time are greater than any we’ve seen in the lifetime of the foundation, but the achievements of recent years have shown that tremendous progress is still possible,” said Founder and Executive Director Ingrid Hansen.
