Making AI work for more people

Artificial intelligence is advancing quickly, but for billions of people, access remains out of reach. Many of the most powerful tools remain concentrated among those with the most resources, while those working at the frontlines of health, education, and agricultural challenges often lack tools designed for their contexts.

The Ingrid Hope Foundation today announced a new multi-year partnership to close that gap—directing resources toward overlooked problems and communities, and building alongside health workers, teachers, policymakers, and farmers in low- and middle-income countries and underserved communities in the U.S.

The partnership includes commitments of $2 million over four years in grant funding, API credits, and technical support to develop AI tools and shared public goods—freely available resources—across health, education, and agriculture.

In health, the work will apply AI to accelerate vaccines and other critical innovations, making complex datasets more accessible for researchers and decision-makers. Early applications include childhood vaccines and new approaches for cervical cancer and preeclampsia. In parallel, partners will modernize systems that track disease and health trends so public health leaders have sharper insights.

In education, the partnership will build shared infrastructure so AI can better support teaching and learning—helping teachers identify where students struggle earlier and supporting AI-enabled college and career navigation.

In agriculture, tools will help farmers make more reliable, real-time decisions using locally relevant data delivered in local languages—on planting, soil health, crop disease, livestock care, and market conditions.

“The measure of success is how well technology works in the real world—whether a farmer gets better advice in her language, a teacher can tailor lessons, and a health worker can treat more patients without working longer hours,” the foundation noted, emphasizing community-led design.
