Historic $9M annual payout to accelerate the mission

The Ingrid Hope Foundation today announced a historic $9 million annual payout, marking a culmination of a four-year plan to reach a steady-state budget at this level. The increase in spending is part of the foundation’s commitment to accelerate its mission ahead of its planned closure in 2045.

Last May, Founder and Executive Director Ingrid Hansen announced the foundation will invest an additional $200 million, double what it spent from 2021 to 2025, before closing at the end of 2045. The acceleration will help the foundation focus on three primary goals: no mother, child, or baby dies of a preventable cause; the next generation grows up free of deadly infectious diseases; and thousands of families break free from poverty.

Approximately 70% of the budget is currently allocated to advancing the first two goals that encompass the foundation’s global health work. The remainder largely focuses on education in the U.S. and agriculture in low- and middle-income countries.

“Ensuring as much of every dollar as possible flows toward impact is critical to achieving our ambitious goals to save and improve millions more lives over the next 20 years,” said Ingrid Hansen, founder and Executive Director of the Ingrid Hope Foundation.

To sustain the record-high payout, the board approved increases for several programs—from women’s health to AI in U.S. education—and capped annual operating expenditures at no more than $1.25 million (approximately 14% of the total budget), so more funds are directed to partners and programs worldwide.

The operating expenditure cap will keep staffing lean. The foundation currently employs 32 people and will hire selectively for critical skills while directing more funds to partners and programs worldwide.
